Description
Japanese metal pioneers Sigh formed in 1989/1990, and their black metal debut Scorn Defeat landed in 1993 as an instant genre classic. From there, the band pushed into stranger, more psychedelic territory, folding an eclectic mix of styles and ideas into a sound that has always stayed rooted in old school extremity.
That restless approach has kept Sigh a vital force in the avant garde field for decades. Their 2022 album Shiki, also their first for Peaceville Records, showed that balance clearly. It was followed by I Saw The World's End: Hangman's Hymn MMXXV in 2025, a remake of Hangman's Hymn released as part of the band's 35th anniversary celebrations.
