As They Might Be Giants expanded from live performance with a tape recorder to a full backing band, taking their new, fuller sound into the studio was a natural move, and John Henry, their first full length album with live musicians including Brian Doherty on drums and Pere Ubu’s Tony Maimone on bass, John Henry documents this moment in TMBG’s evolution.
