Trumpeter Blue Mitchell’s soulful, swinging style embodied the Blue Note ethos. His 1964 debut for the label, The Thing To Do, showcased his sound across a diverse set of tunes from hard bop to ballads to Calypso with an exceptional quintet featuring Junior Cook (tenor saxophone,) Chick Corea (piano,) Gene Taylor (bass,) and Al Foster (drums.) This Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition is stereo, all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.
