Description
New Orleans guitarist Eric Johanson has never been interested in choosing between the raw emotional pull of the blues and the freedom to take it somewhere stranger, heavier, and entirely his own. On The Open Bayou, Johanson pushes that instinct further than ever. Thick guitar tones, hypnotic rhythms, and the volatile chemistry of a live power trio collide across an album that feels rooted and untamed at once-drawing from the blues without allowing tradition to define it's limits. The album's first single, "Shake the Fever," is built around a massive fuzz riff that hits like an asteroid, offering the first glimpse into the record's physical, psychedelic world.
