Released on Impulse! in 1965—his final album as leader to be released in his lifetime—the Bob Thiele-produced session brings together a crack team of musicians backing Hawkins: trumpeters Bill Berry and Snooky Young, trombonist Urbie Green, pianist Barry Harris, bassist Buddy Catlett, and drummer Eddie Locke. The LP spans vintage cinema (the Heinz Provost-penned "Intermezzo," used in the Swedish drama and its American remake of the same name), contemporary standards ("Red Roses for a Blue Lady," "I Won't Dance") and a Hawkins original ("She's Fit"), closing the book on a discography of great acclaim.

Verve Acoustic Sounds Series titles are mastered from the original analog tapes by Matthew Lutthans, pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Quality Record Pressings (QRP) and packaged in high-quality tip-on gatefold jackets.

Format / LP
Released / 10/23/2026
Catalogue / VRV-241481
Barcode / 199957085526
Artist / Coleman Hawkins
Label / Verve
Genre / Jazz

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1487/4550/files/image-url_thumbnail_50_5fac5e9f-3997-43f0-a8c6-cea2b5ab35d8.webp?v=1790365389
https://www.plaidroomrecords.com/products/pre-order-coleman-hawkins-wrapped-tight-verve-acoustic-sounds-series-release-date-10-23-2026
